Upon meeting Craig, people can feel of his compassion for those around him. He has always had a spot in his heart for anyone who was having a hard time. I remember when we were kids, he would go up to complete strangers (much to our mom's dismay on occasion) and would return something they had dropped or would point out to an unbeknowing parent that their child was in danger (e.g. once he saw a little toddler in a stroller was sucking on a balloon). He's always been there to listen when someone was going through a difficult time, and all he's ever wanted is for everyone to be happy.
This past year has dealt Craig some pretty immense difficulties. He went through a divorce, leaving him with virtually nothing except for partial custody of his little girl, Mollie. He started over from scratch and over the past several months has been trying to get back on his feet again.
Since the divorce, Craig has been living in a little apartment (if it can be called that) above the garage of our dad's house. He has been working as many hours as he can, has been trying to find an affordable place of his own (with no success), and has been in the process of applying for an electrician apprenticeship (which he was supposed to test for this week) all while trying to take care of his daughter when he has her.
While still struggling to find stable ground, Craig has been hit with yet another hardship. Yesterday morning, he was in an accident at work. I do not know all of the details yet, but I know it involved his right hand. He had to be rushed into a long emergency surgery right away (they say he would have permanently lost use of his hand if he hadn't). We will find out in the next day or so if he gets to go home or if he has to have another surgery. Either way, it is projected that he will be unable to work for at least three months. We're hoping worker's comp will help out a lot, but we know it probably won't be enough to make ends meet.
I don't know why Craig has been called to endure so many difficult trials. I do know that if we pull together, though, that we can help him through. Shortly after he and his ex-wife separated, we were able to earn enough money for Craig to buy a car so he could get to work and to his daughter. I'm hoping we can pull together again to help him through the next several months.
On the right side of this page, we have link to paypal if you would like to help out. I'm hoping to also have a few other options soon. Thank you!
